A didgeridoo
(also didjeridu, didjeridoo, didjeridus or yidaki) is a musical wind instrument
that is said to have originated as long ago as 10 000 BC in the Northern areas
of Australia.
Initially, didgeridoos were used for ceremonial purposes and corroborees in
accompaniment to dancers. The didgeridoo was also used to imitate the sound
of animals. Today, its unique range of tones has made the didgeridoo a specialist
instrument used by players all over the world.

Learn about playing didgeridoos:
The didgeridoo
or didge is not a difficult instrument to learn. Since it is basically a monotonal
instrument, there is no need to learn how to read music, make chords, practice
scales or any of those other demanding, structured things. The major requirement
is that you want to have fun and express yourself through the sounds and music
of this ancient instrument. All players are a little different and we all
find some techniques easier to learn than others. So move at your own pace
and don’t get frustrated or disappointed if you can’t do everything
right away.
It is helpful to practice in the right kind of place. When you first start
your sounds might be indistinct and hard to hear well. So start somewhere
where the acoustics amplify the sounds that you make. Like in a shower stall
or with your didge stuck in a bath tub. Or in a stairwell or metal bucket
or a corner so the sound will be reflected back to you. You get the idea.
Stay away from areas that will absorb your sound.
